FAQ

FAQ

Who is your typical clientele?

I see children, teens, young adults and their parents/caregivers. I believe in working with both the child and the caregiver in order to make lifelong change. Many of the concepts I teach crossover into all ages and stages of child development and some caregivers say they use these skills in their personal and work relationships.

What can I expect for my child and family?

I will meet with the caregivers without the child present during the first session. This will allow time for me to gather a comprehensive history and evaluation of the caregiver’s concerns. We will discuss the child’s developmental history, current symptoms and behaviors, and my treatment approach.

My child or teen is new to counseling. How do I explain this to them?

When explaining therapy to a child or teenager, it's important to use simple and age-appropriate language. Here's a possible explanation:

"Therapy is a special place where you can talk to someone who is experienced at helping kids with their feelings and problems. They are called therapists, and they are there to listen and support you. They play fun games and activities with you to help you understand your feelings and learn new ways to feel happier. It's okay to feel nervous or unsure at first, but lots of kids find therapy helpful, and it's a safe space just for you.”

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. I am in network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and United Healthcare.
